![]() Multiplayer saves will not be seen in Single Player mode and vice versa. ![]() Something to keep in mind for older games. Here are some things you should know about Saving and Loading in Multiplayer: When a game is saved in Multiplayer Mode, it will be stored in a folder in your System Shock 2 Directory and can only be loaded in Multiplayer Mode from a unique save selection screen. Could be because the network code was optimized for dial up connections (56K) and when on LAN it thinks your playing on a LAN and allows bigger data transfers. Yeah we had less issues playing the game over virtual lan than we did when we opened ports and played directly online. :)Īgain just save often and in different slots and things will be good. Otherwise enjoy! The game is really fun co-op. If not then load an older save game and move on. *Rare bug* Game crashing for everyone when continuing a new hosted game? Have each player load a save game (by each hosting themselves and entering the folder name of the game saves and loading an older save) and once each of the players are in the game they then exit to the main menu and then join the hosts game without exiting the game and the save should load for all players without crashing. Can also fix if you happen to have any sync issues after loading a new area too. So exiting and re-hosting with the last save may be needed. Sometimes if you save then load a save while in game it can cause the next loading point to not load. (Same area for disabling display scaling.) I've heard Windows 8 users setting the games compatibility mode to Windows 7 can help. You can also load the game and use task manager but you'll have to do it everytime you load yth) (Since I own an AMD card I used RadeonPro which had these options. *Don't use high cpu priority too.* <- Especially important for the host to do. Set the game to use 1 cpu core as using multiple cores can cause loading issues. In Windows Compatibility mode (right click on Shock2.exe and goto properties and click on the Compatibility tab) make sure Disable display scaling on high DPI settings in checked. The fun factor out weights some of the minor issues when playing co-op. *I'd say keep the host in charge of saving as if other players are then some older saves can get wrote over and if something happens you may have to back track because someone else mistakenly erased an important save.*ĭo that and things won't be so bad while playing as sometimes the game may crash. So make one person in charge of game saving! Try to save when all players are grouped up and not separated too. Only one person needs to save but anyone can and it will sync across each persons game. I didn't bother much with the quick save feature as it only saves in one slot. Don't be afraid to save twice in different slots too. Again in another slot and you'll be fine. Save after altering something in the game like upgrading and such as examples. Save before loading points like bulk heads. Save often! and save in multiple slots and never the same slot twice. *If you mod any game in Steam set the game to not auto update! I had some modded games get wiped because Steam auto verified the game files from having auto updates on and the games did not actually have updates.* If you use any Mods make sure the other players are using them too. In the Party write the ip of the person hosting down and write it in when joining.Ĭo-op isn't as bad as some make it. Then one person hosts a Lan game and the others join. You can set the Party on Private which is invite only for your Friends. ![]() Leave the Party open or minimize it as closing it will disable the virtural lan. One person creates a party and the others join. So you and your co-op partners use Evolve: Play this over a Virtual LAN as it will play a bit smoother than playing it directly online as me and my co-op buddies discovered.
